airfilterin’ bitches.
Did some reading last night. Dellorto tuning guides… I’ve come to the conclusion that my high-flowin airfilter on my SHA has been fucking up my bike!
Ok, some backstory:
When I got the bigger carb (upgraded to 16.16 a stock 14.12) I made a new intake, and portmatched too. I also bought a high flow filter to go with the bigger carb. Sounds great right? Not so much, top speed remained virtually the same, and in fact the damn bike could barely idle.
So reading the dell’ tuning guide and looking at the difference between PHBGs and SHAs, I’m speculating that perhaps because PHBG’s have an inlet at the mouth of the carb, and SHA’s just have a flat opening, perhaps the SHA needs some sort of restriction to achieve proper venturi effect.
So, I threw my stock garelli airfilter on there… Fired up, idled like a dream, and fucking BLASTED on the way to work. It felt like a puch for christ’s sake (say whaaat?)
Shit’s sweet. Gonna order me a new-better airfilter when I order my kit (TOMORROW! FUCK YEAH)
Oh, p.s. check out garellibaddudes.blogspot.com some bad dude shit right thur.

I use em brah! Don’t want any nasty road shit gettin in yr cylinder!!
Aside from that, a lot of tuning to be done with airflow…. Especially when you run a one-jet carb (like me)
